BankingMCP or viaSocket: which Finom MCP server should you use?
Both promise to bring your Finom account into Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor over MCP, and neither is made by Finom. viaSocket is an automation platform with more than 2,300 apps, and Finom is one of them. BankingMCP does one thing: it gives your assistant read access to your bank accounts, Finom and your other banks included. Here is how they differ.

The key differences
Works today
viaSocket marks its Finom app as a beta that is waiting for verification before end users can use it, and its Finom MCP page lists no actions yet. With BankingMCP you connect Finom and ask about your balances and transactions right away.
Built for bank data
BankingMCP's tools are made for banking questions: accounts, balances, the full transaction history and a search across it. viaSocket is a general platform where Finom is one app among thousands, filed under accounting.
Finom and your other banks together
BankingMCP connects through a bank directory, so Finom sits next to Sparkasse, N26, Qonto or your personal account in the same conversation. With viaSocket, each bank needs an app of its own.
Read-only by design
viaSocket is built to let your AI carry out actions in your apps. BankingMCP has no payment tool at all: your assistant reads, and moving money stays in your banking app.
